Having been in a bit of a book slump lately i really didnt know what to expect when i started this book. The thing about debut books is they can sometimes have the potential to be great but just fall short of that, however this is definately not one of those books. The story was brilliant and i for one will be looking out for more from this author.

Becca and Ryan were best friends right up until they were 12, when Ryan decided that being "popular" meant more to him then their friendship. After that day Becca went out of her way to ignore her former best friend and Ryan went out of his way to torment her any chance he got. When their last year at high school begins things change, Ryan no longer just torments her, he is everywhere she goes, and Becca hates it. Just when she gets a boyfriend, great friends and is actually happy with her life Ryan steps up his game and Becca doesnt know what to think or how to feel, and Ryan? Well he has his own agenda and he is just as derermined to make Becca take notice of him.

Although this is a high school romance and therefore has the typical characters, the "cliquey popular crowd", "the king of the school" and the "head cheerleader" Becca was a breath of fresh air having no interest in being part of the clique really made her likeable and enjoyable to read, was there times when she was immature? Yeah but thats just the par for characters her age. Ryan was really well written and although he was the "king of the school" i instantly liked him and knew there would be more to him than just your average jock. The angst, playful banter and needing to know if the characters would actually get together kept me hooked from page one. If you're looking for a YA book with great characters and an even better storyline this is the book for you. Great debut book and i cant wait to read the next!
