Intriguing setup and interesting characters ...Wicked Wish by Sawyer Bennett

Intriguing setup and interesting characters

Book 2 in the Wicked Horse Vegas series, this book can easily be read as a standalone, though reading either the previous book in this series or from the original Wicked Horse series would help give you background on the club setup.

This is a brother's best friend story with a few twists thrown in. Though not one of my favorite base storylines, I really liked what the author did to change it up, both using a masquerade to get the two main characters together, and that the two shared a closer than usual bond due to an incident that happened when Jorie was sixteen. Add in the club, which makes revealing their relationship to Jorie's brother, Micah, an even more tense prospect, plus the ex-husband (they're separated) and there's a lot of potential that the author takes great advantage of.

Jorie is a great character; she's been deeply hurt by someone she trusted, but she's determined to get what she wants and needs, and I loved how she wasn't afraid to chase Walsh when she had to. I had a little more trouble with Walsh; frankly, all the men in Jorie's life needed a smack upside the back of their heads at one point or another during the story, (I have to give the author credit for making me feel that strongly about them!) but Walsh did manage to win me over in the end.

With an intriguing setup and interesting characters, this is a great addition to the series. 4 stars.
